Elle Venture Photography

The wedding cake cutting ceremony has always played a special part in the timeline of a wedding (hello, cake cutting photos!!). But, if you’re hosting a micro-wedding with a shorter timeline, dessert will be one of the most anticipated ways for your wedding guests to celebrate with you!

Cutting cakes and mini desserts are the perfect way to treat yourself and share your love with your guests! Read on to learn my favorite ways to make the wedding cake and mini desserts pack a big punch at your micro-wedding!

Guest count: Mini two-tier cutting cakes are perfect for a micro wedding with up to 25 guests.

While petite in size, a mini tiered cake is a delicious, eye catching element that compliments the style of your micro-wedding. Personalize your wedding cake with your favorite cake flavor, a custom cake design, set it on pretty cake stand and viola! You have a piece of art on display.

You can even have it set up on one end of your sweetheart table in place of a centerpiece. The mini two-tier cake allows you to have the traditional cake cutting ceremony photos, while also serving your guests a sweet treat in your favorite flavor. Yes, please!

Micro-Wedding Mini Dessert Table

Guest count: Dessert tables are a beautiful addition to any size wedding. They can be a curated option for a wedding with as few as 6 guests or up to 350 guests!

With fewer guests and a shorter reception, micro weddings make it easy to forego a full sit down meal and simply serve a grazing table of mini desserts to snack on instead!

Are you hosting a morning elopement? Order a small collection of sweet artisan breakfast items like muffins, coffee cake, and mini cinnamon rolls to serve your guests. Add a coffee bar or DIY mimosa bar to compliment the morning desserts and consider the food handled!

Having an afternoon micro-wedding? Go for mid-afternoon pick-me-up desserts like tiramisu dessert cups, lemon cupcakes, or classic chocolate chip cookies.

For an evening wedding, a variety of elegant mini desserts like mini cheesecakes, cream puffs and macarons is perfect to finish off the night with a sweet bite!

TIP: Dessert bars make it easy to cater to guests with dietary sensitivities. By choosing a small variety of sweets, rather than just cake, you have more flexibility to offer something delicious for everyone!

Single Tier Cutting Cake

Guest count: A single tier cutting cake is a great option for a private elopement of 2-10 wedding guests or for display along with a dessert table or cupcakes to serve additional guests.

A small cutting cake displays beautifully, especially with a custom buttercream design, a message on top,  plus your favorite flavor from my cake menu!

Individual Mini Cakes for Wedding Guests

Guest count: Individual cakes are best for micro-weddings with 10-20 guests.

Your wedding guests will drool over their own adorable individual mini layer cakes. Choose a few different cake flavors and cake designs, like semi-naked topped with flowers or a custom colored buttercream to match your wedding colors!

Mini Desserts as Décor or Favors

Guest count: Any! It’s a sweet touch, no matter how many guests.

Excite your guests as soon as they sit down by adding a mini dessert, like a colorful French macaron, as part of your place settings. Adding desserts in unexpected places adds a playful, welcoming touch for guests to admire and taste while waiting to be served.

They say eat dessert first, right? Forgo the amuse bouche and kick things off with a sweet bite instead!

Lastly, if you have put a lot of your budget toward food and didn’t plan to have a cake cutting or a mini dessert bar, consider boxing up cookies in clear boxes and leaving them at each guests place setting as as a yummy take-home (or after dinner) favor.

The perfect, inexpensive way to say, “Thank you for coming!” and ensure that your wedding favors are put to good use!

We offer mini two tier and mini three tier wedding cakes as part of an All Inclusive Micro-Wedding Package with White Aspen Creative. To learn more about this package, inquire with WAC here!
